Our Cows

Joylan milk is produced on the farm from a herd of 450 Pedigree Holstein cows.

Joylan is one of the most well known names in the Holstein breed, having produced many show champions, including five champions at the Royal Agricultural Society of England Show.4^th time Champion at the RABDF European Championship. European Dairy Cow of the Year in 1994, and Supreme Champion at the National Holstein Show in 1999. Joylan has also won the Premier Breeder in the UK twice. To produce a Champion requires attention to detail, that same attention to detail goes into every pint of milk.

Animal welfare is the key to a successful enterprise. When outdoors our cattle enjoy green feed from fresh pastures and when housed they have continuous access to the feed trough. Each cow has its own space- this allows all the cows in each yard to be able to eat and lie down at any time. Each yard has air conditioning and air tunnels to keep the atmosphere fresh.

We feed our cows crops grown on the farm, mainly grass, forage maize, wheat and fodder beet. Grass is used for grazing.
